Sequoia Lith Prints

For this series of lith landscapes, taken in Sequoia National Park in Summer, 2016, I abandoned my obsession with detail, clarity, and sharpness, and embraced the subjectivist style of the Pictorialists with a twist. The mottling on the surface of the print, the intentional effect of overexposing and under-developing the paper at high dilution, is intended to evoke, depending on your sensibilities, other-worldliness or unease, adding an edge to otherwise tranquil scenes.
